Ronald McDonald House Westchester recently welcomed volunteers and partners from Westchester Medical Center and the McDonald’s Stamford Field Office for a special Day of Service dedicated to supporting families with children receiving critical medical care.
The day came together around McDonald’s National Volunteer Day and Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, creating a meaningful opportunity to connect volunteer service with the impact of the programs that support families throughout a child’s medical journey. The McDonald’s Stamford Field Office and Westchester Medical Center partnered to demonstrate what a Day of Service at the Ronald McDonald House can accomplish.
Throughout the day, volunteers from the McDonald’s Stamford Field Office and Westchester Medical Center staff worked alongside the RMH Westchester team to support families both at the House and at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. Volunteers helped prepare meals, supported our Meals on the House meal delivery program, and participated in meaningful projects around the House.
In addition to the WMC staff members who volunteered throughout the day, the event also brought together hospital leadership, including David Lubarsky, MD, MBA, FASA, CEO of Westchester Medical Center, and Erika Berman Rosenzweig, M.D., Physican-In-Chief of Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, who joined the gathering and shared remarks with volunteers and guests.
Guests also heard from Izzy Neville, a former Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital patient whose family received support through Ronald McDonald House Westchester’s Day Program. Her story offered a powerful, firsthand reminder of the difference these programs and partnerships can make for families during some of their most challenging moments.
Both the McDonald’s Stamford Field Office and Westchester Medical Center generously supported the Day of Service with donations to Ronald McDonald House Westchester. Their generosity and commitment to our mission will continue to make a meaningful impact on the families we serve well beyond the day itself.
The Day of Service was a meaningful example of what can happen when healthcare, community and corporate partners come together around a shared mission. We are deeply grateful to Westchester Medical Center, Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, the McDonald’s Stamford Field Office, and every volunteer who helped make the day so special.
Together, these partnerships help Ronald McDonald House Westchester continue providing comfort, care and connection to families when they need it most.
